but there are still things I don't know, because how do you get such a track like on the first post?
do you start in photoshop with it? wich size is it? and what with the racemenu on the bottem?

My first attempt was too long so I found I could make the track with the line tool almost instantly with a track map instead of using a brush.

Select the line tool in Photo shop select any colour and in "Line Options" change the weight to "10".
Now you can make the out line of the circuit. Resize to fit the green portion of the .pcx image if you need to. You can copy and paste sections for a symmetrical track. More lines to make the corner will result in a smoother path, once you complete the last step.

Now we make the actual track. Remember the road colour is 9B9BAF (RGB 155,155,175)

Create a new layer still with the line tool selected. Once again change the "weight" in the "Line Options" to "40".

Now you can trace over the thin line you created earlier to get a decent track layout without spending a lot of time with the paintbrush tool.

Now you need the paint brush tool to smooth out the track.

Me suggests that those are packged with the editor along with Guide to Track Editing if Ian and Kroah don't mind?

That's quite helpful, thank you! Would it be possible to add trees/forest and tyre walls? Might be useful on some circuits. :)

When I open the patterns they all appear as a flat plain light brown colour (#CBB7AF). Is this a palette issue again?

Damnit, nope nothing you've done wrong, I forgot to include the Pattern sets in Photoshop apologies for that, I've added them to the zip file now. Just extract the pattern set and double click, should load into Photoshop :)

Yes, you can create a dirt track. In the file TRACKX.PCX (where X is the number of the track) you have to have a grey track, but you could create a dirt-coloured track over the top of that in TRACKXA.PCX and that should work fine.
