Voxcon came up with a nice idea with which it is possible to play the game for more than 10 seasons. So let's get straight to the point, as you might be eager to hear what he's got to say (edited for grammar & clarity):

- Start a game
- Load you favourite config, whatever goes
- Play up until the 10th season
- Before the very last race, get a note pad and write down driver and engine stats
- Then, go to Options->Customise->Save settings, save with any name you like
- Do the last race, then add the results from that to the config
Normally, you shouldn't be able to save or load a config, but with a little hack you can! You can download a readily hacked executable (for the 2009 Mod) from here:
http://uploads.gpm2world.com/nuppiz/GPM2ModExe.zip. Or you can tough it out and edit the exe file yourself with Kroah's instructions:

Enable the customise option after the first race of the first year.
Search: A0 5C 50 71 00 85 C0 0F 85 21 00 00 00 0F BF 05 24 EB 69 00
Change: -- -- -- -- -- -- -- EB 25 90 90 90 90 -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Either way, the starting year of the game will still be wrong. Luckily we know how to change it, although you have to hex-edit the exe yourself. Instructions for that are found below (taken from my Ultimate Guide to GPM2 Modding).

6. Now we get to the interesting part. This procedure allows you to change the game’s starting year through hex editing. (---) First you need a hex editor -
XVI32 is simple to use even for the starters. Next, make a backup copy of your GPM2.exe, just in case something messes up. Then, open the GPM2.exe you want to edit (for example, rename it to according to the year that your mod is about, like “GPM22002.exe”, or rename your backup instead). Then, we must know what the year you’re going to change here is in hex-language. Go to Tools->Encode, tick ”word (2 bytes)” and ”Here”. Then, type the year you want the exe to be in the ”Number:” box. The encoded number now appears on the other side of the window. Memorize or copy that. Now, replace the default value from each of these addresses (go to Address->Goto and tick ”hexadecimal”, then just paste/type these values in the box below one at a time): 9895, BB91, 2CC89, 2E1A8, A47F9, BB0C2, CFAF0, CFDE8, D056F, D05FC, DE24, BE2513, E7768, E9D90, ED1B3, 116AB0, 138C30. When a hex address is selected, you can replace the current bytes with new ones simply by typing them on your keyboard.
After that you've got your game transferred 10 years ahead in time! If you want you can also edit new drivers in the mod while adding the stats to the config, so you don't have to stare at the same old faces again.
The big downside with this technique is that you lose all of your facilities, sponsors, contracts and developed parts and driver aids, but you can of course always cheat them back to yourself (and preferrably to the AI teams as well to keep the playing field level

).
Hope this helps!
